The Bruce Mitchell Early Career Scholarship

Associate Professor Bruce Mitchell co-founded Pelvic Pain Victoria in 2015. Bruce had a distinguished career in medicine and research and is renowned as both a pain and sports physician, with Fellowships of the Australasian College of Sports and Exercise Physicians, The American College of Sports Medicine, The Australian Sports Medicine Federation and a Fellowship of Interventional Pain Practice.

Bruce, along with Angela Chia recognised the challenges facing clinicians in the poorly researched and complex field of pelvic pain. His vision was to bring the disciplines together to support clinicians and the patient and improve outcomes for all sufferers of pelvic pain.

Bruce’s can-do attitude, pragmatism and leadership through the fledgling establishment years, set the foundations for Pelvic Pain Victoria into the future. Today Pelvic Pain Victoria is a registered Charity run by a multi-disciplinary board, bringing clinicians together to advance understanding and reduce the suffering of all with pelvic pain.

The Bruce Mitchell Early Career Scholarship is a full scholarship for the biennial Pelvic Pain Victoria Symposium. This scholarship is open to all early career healthcare professionals with an interest in a career in pelvic pain.
